Rheem continuous hot water systems heat the water as it is needed:  You could run the hot water tap 24/7 and it wouldn’t run out! They are also smaller and an efficient option in terms of both gas and cost.

There are two types of continuous hot water systems - one that requires a power connection and one that doesn't. Instead of a power connection, some hot water systems have an inbuilt hydro-electric generator that lights the gas as soon as the hot water tap is turned on. Sizes are based on litres per hour from 12L to 27L.

Price point: Between $850 and $2,700 (unit only)

Rheem hot water storage systems include gas or electric storage systems and heat pumps. Gas / electric storage systems can be installed inside or outside and come in a variety of sizes – from an under sink 50L unit to a massive 400L unit with twin elements.

The Rheem Electric Heat Pump uses the same fittings as a standard electric hot water system and is an environmentally friendly choice, as it provides great reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.  They will help reduce energy usage and costs when it comes to heating your water.

Price point: Between $450 and $2,000 for hot water storage systems and between $1,500 - $4,500 for heat pumps (units only)

Rheem solar hot water systems are the future of hot water – they are highly efficient and help reduce your carbon footprint.

Solar hot water systems come with both gas and electric back-up units with internal elements in the storage tank to ensure peace of mind. You’ll never be without hot water even though you’re relying on the heat of the sun to predominantly keep your water hot.

There are significant costs upfront for the installation for the different elements - storage tank, solar panel collector - but in the long run, they are the most energy and cost efficient.

Price point: Between $4,000 and $7,500 (units only)

You can use the Rheem Hot Water Selection function on their website to help you choose which system is right for you.

How do I get a hot water system installed?

Your new hot water system should only be installed by a licensed plumber. If your old hot water system is being replaced, the plumber will be able to disconnect the old tank, drain it out, wheel the new one in, connect it and fill it.

Prices for installation vary based on the type and size of the hot water system, if you will be installing it inside or outside, if your house is single or double storey (for solar hot water systems) and if any additional plumbing needs to be done as part of the installation, such as installing a new gas line.

Common issues with Rheem systems

Rheem is the first brand you think of when it comes to hot water in Australia and that's for good reason - they are use long lasting materials and have efficient designs. They offer 5 - 12 year warranties on their products,

The issues you might see in a Rinnai are the same you’d see with any brand of hot water system after 7 – 15 years of use: leaks, worn thermocouple sensor, thermostat issues or a dripping relief valve. These can all be fixed by a licensed plumber, who can get you back to having reliable hot water as soon as possible.
